An outraged Democratic lawmaker, fed up with Massport’s lavish vacation buyback program, vowed yesterday to file a bill to end the plum perk, even as Gov. Deval Patrick expressed his own frustration with the big-spending agency.It's great to see our rep taking the lead on issues of waste in our quasi-public agencies. Lest anyone think it's an election-year ploy, Hank was also one of the legislators that tried to strip Evacuation Day and Bunker Hill Day from the list of Suffolk-county only holidays.
“In this difficult economy, we need to watch where every nickel and dime is being spent,” said state Rep. Harold P. Naughton Jr., adding he intended to submit the bill by the end of the week.
“Across the board, we need to think of better and more efficient financial solutions,” Naughton added.
